Coca-Cola: Year of The Snake
This was a fun piece of work that spawned one late night, led to defeat at first attempt (looked like a snaked had swallowed a bottle, don't ask), but nothing a good dinner and some decent coffee couldn't fix. Come 4 am the next morning, after manually moving around a thousand or so snake skin scales, the sunrise glared directly onto my monitor just in time to finish up. Who says you can't enjoy crafting?
Concept:
In Chinese tradition, snakes are considered a symbol of good fortune. Encountering one, especially in the Year of the Snake, is seen as an auspicious sign.
It’s why Coca-Cola collaborated with a Hong Kong artist, renowned for using traditional inks and materials, to handcraft a one-of-a-kind snake skin pattern in celebration of the New Year. Its unique design masterfully camouflages the iconic shape of Coca-Cola’s contour bottle within its intricate, mesmerising pattern – drawing viewers in to discover the magic of Coke, hidden in plain sight.
Blending cultural symbolism with our ‘Real Magic’ platform, we surprised Hong Kongers with an unexpected and auspicious discovery – reminding them that nothing goes better with the magical moments of connection during Chinese New Year than Coca-Cola.
